While
his England team-mates arrived in France to prepare for their Group B
opener against Russia, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was getting over
his disappointment thousands of miles away from their Chantilly base.
Alongside Arsenal
team-mate Carl Jenkinson and another friend, the midfield star was
enjoying a spot of sight-seeing, as he took in the view from the famous
Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and shared the picture on Instagram.
It
has been another campaign of frustration for the 22-year-old, who has
had to contend with numerous injury problems and suffered his most
recent, when he knocked his knee in a Champions League clash against
Barcelona back in February.

The season started brightly for the 22-year-old who netted in the Community Shield win over Chelsea
The
former Southampton star, who signed for Arsenal in 2011 at an initial
cost of £12m, has made just 22 appearances this season, only scoring
twice. Yet, despite his vast potential, he has never managed to play
more than 25 Premier League games in a season.
This
will be the second major tournament, Oxlade-Chamberlain has missed for
Roy Hodgson's side, when, after sustaining ligament damage to his knee
in a warm-up game against Ecuador ahead of the 2014 World Cup, was
forced to sit out the matches against Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica, as
the three lions exited at the group stage.

It is not the first tournament he has missed for England, as he is seen laying prone prior to the 2014 World Cup
With
two years to run on his current contract, there has been talk of
interest from West Ham and Manchester City for the player, who has
failed to cement a regular first-team spot, but manager Arsene Wenger
came out to give his backing to the injury-prone attacker, 'We have
invested a lot of time and we will not give up now,' he said.
Also
missing out on a place in England's euro squad is Oxlade-Chamberlain's
team-mate Danny Welbeck, who after returning to action following injury
in February, was then subsequently ruled out for nine months after
injuring his knee in a clash against Manchester City.
